Leather Care
Caring for Your Crazy Horse Leather
Crazy Horse leather is built to last — and with a little care, it only gets better with age. Follow these simple guidelines to keep your piece looking its best.
1. Protect from Water
Crazy Horse leather is naturally water-resistant but not waterproof. Avoid prolonged exposure to rain or moisture, as water can leave temporary marks on the surface. If your piece does get wet, gently blot it dry with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry naturally away from direct heat.
2. Avoid Sharp Objects & Excessive Pressure
Keep your leather goods away from sharp or abrasive surfaces to prevent scratching. Avoid overpacking or placing heavy objects on top, as this can cause the leather to lose its shape over time.
3. Embrace the Scratches
Minor scuffs and scratches are part of the character of Crazy Horse leather — not a flaw. Simply rub the affected area gently with a clean fingertip or soft cloth, and the mark will naturally blend back into the leather's surface.
4. Everyday Cleaning
Wipe down your piece with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and surface dirt. Avoid using water, soap, or chemical cleaners, as these can strip the leather's natural oils and alter its appearance.
5. Storage
When not in use, store your leather goods in a breathable dust bag in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space. Keep away from direct sunlight, humidity, and heat sources to prevent fading or drying out.
6. Conditioning
Every few months, apply a thin, even coat of leather conditioner or mink oil using a soft cloth. This helps maintain the leather's suppleness, enhances its natural sheen, and deepens the rich patina that develops over time.
